'My Friend Ellie'- Pony Hair Ring

I made this bespoke ring for a lovely client of mine who recently lost her beloved pony, Ellie. She had kept a few precious stands of Ellie's long black hair to be fashioned into a small memento ring.

The 14k gold ring base would hold the strands in a shimmering tray. As the hair was very coarse, I decided to snip tiny lengths rather than bend it into the tray. I created a beautiful cross-hatch design, and sprinkled in a scattering of 24k gold leaf flakes for an added touch of sparkle. The natural resin was then built up in fine layers, culminating in a domed glossy finish. 

The result is a one-of-a-kind ring that is imbued with happy memories of a cherished friend.
