'She wore green velvet'- New Packaging
A Lost Forest secret to finally reveal after nearly a year of work, research, design and many late nights and the obligatory cups of hot coffee. My brand new packaging will be available with purchases in tomorrow’s long awaited shop update.
I wanted to create something highly unique and special for Lost Forest’s 7 year anniversary on October 6th. I had an idea lodged firmly in my mind for the last number of years to design a traditional style jewellery box; plush, luxurious soft velvet, gilded in gold and a sumptuous tactility that would honour the little piece of craftsmanship held within. I never thought it would be possible to make my idea a reality, but with lots of hard work I finally had my magical treasure box.
I chose the signature Lost Forest moss green for the velvet; reminiscent of the ancient Irish woodlands carpeted in lush tufts of moss. One day, I had walked over a moss pathway barefoot, and my presence left an indentation on its surface, which slowly disappeared until it became untraceable yet again. I wanted to portray that tiny moment on the lid of the box using a pressed logo, that is visible, yet also subtle and unassuming in its detail. Once you lift off the lid, your treasure is revealed within, the circular form of the pendant echoing that of the box.
Continuity of design is always an important factor for me when creating anything. The gold of the pendant frame was picked up again on the inside of the lid; a gilded ‘Lost Forest’ logo. I chose a natural ivory calico for the insert, evoking a traditional Irish aesthetic from long ago, and reminiscent of Irish linen. The box is topped with a simple, yet elegant satin bow in a beautiful tone of peach, representing the floral element of my work; in particular the peachy petals of peony blooms from my garden.
The whole look of my packaging is inspired by nature, and of a world from long ago, where elegance and craftsmanship went hand in hand and was celebrated, cherished and passed down through the generations.
