How to make a St. Brigid's Cross - Traditional Irish Crafts

Spring has finally arrived, and the days are certainly getting longer already. I for one love this time of year; when the sun tenderly warms the soil and coaxes the blooms below to awaken from their slumber and peak their bonnets above the earth. We could all do with some much needed sunlight and colour, and I'm cherishing these early signs of this beautiful season. Today's video is a short glimpse into the studio, as well as me trying to show you how to make a Brigids Cross! It's tricky, but worth the practice, and is quite therapeutic in the end.

If you don't have access to rushes, you can make it from young willow rods, or even pipe cleaners, or raffia. Let me know below if you've tried it, and how easy/hard you found it to make. -Gillian x
