'You're the apple of my eye' - Irish Valentine's Jewellery
A brand new special Maiden has debuted in the Lost Forest shop today. The ‘Maiden of the Apple Blossom’ is the ideal gift to celebrate yourself or that someone special on Valentine’s Day.
In Irish folklore the wild apple tree was deemed sacred; its curling, knotted branches imbued with associations of love and the enchantment of the Otherworld. Its spring blooming blossoms were symbolic of love, youthfulness and new beginnings, and adorned the bedchambers to celebrate its beauty. The scrumptious fruits of rosy red, and apple green were often viewed as the Fae’s food- a gift to us mortals from the Otherworld.
I used Strawberry quartz to create these beautiful pieces, due to their tactile polished surface, and enticing rich colours that are so reminiscent of an apple. The dazzling gemstones also hold similar symbolism; believed to promote self love, growth and renewal. It is associated with the zodiac sign of Libra.
The droplets of strawberry quartz are fair trade sourced and dance gracefully from a striking 14K circular jump ring hung on a dazzling 14k gold filled satellite chain in an elegant 18 inch length.
