'A New Beginning for Lost Forest'

Welcome to the official opening of my brand new website! This has been a long long process, and one that saw many late nights over the last year. I am thrilled with the new direction my business has now embarked on, and I hope it paves the way for plenty of new and exciting adventures for Lost Forest.

This new beginning was sparked one day by a sudden realisation; I had to change. I was simply not as happy or fulfilled as an artist with what I was making anymore. It is counter-intuitive as an artist to feel bored and uninspired, as it saps all of your creative thinking and energy, and often leads you down a path you wouldn't necessarily take. I felt I stretched myself too thin producing various styles and designs, all unique ideas to begin with, but lacking a cohesive ideal.

I spent many sleepless nights with ideas swirling through my mind. I applied a more pragmatic approach and decided, like you would in any profession, to specialise in one area. For me, what I loved to create most were my little landscapes, as seen in my award-winning necklace; The Magical Mottlegill Mushroom. I enjoyed working on an individual project; focusing on tiny intricate detailing. It satisfied me the most, and allowed me to harness my creativity into that one particular item. The final pendant would be a completely one-of-a-kind miniature art piece, unable to be replicated again. This to me was the 'light bulb' moment, and I wanted to expand on that concept and bring it to the forefront of my entire brands ethos. This is how the idea of my miniature wildflower landscapes was born. 

It has been an arduous, stressful and yet deeply fulfilling year revitalising Lost Forest.  I am now content and looking forward to sharing my work with my loyal customers. Happy shopping, and thank you for supporting an independent handmade business.  –Gillian x
