'A World of Octobers'
I have been an avid admirer of the Netflix series ‘Anne with an E’ since it first aired in 2017. The series is brought to full colourful life by a wonderful cast of actors, especially the lead role, played by a fellow Irish woman, Amybeth McNulty who dynamically portrays the most accurate and believable depiction of L.M Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables.
I was overjoyed when Amybeth received her Lost Forest original Looking Glass. I felt the design was the ideal choice for her, as it was inspired by a wildflower crown, very similar to that worn by Anne. The floral composition consisted of feverfew daisies, astrantia, woodland ferns, dandelion wishes and a whirlwind of dainty Irish wildflowers all harvested from the Lost Forest cottage garden and surrounding farm hedgerows. Each flower is symbolic, holding a specific meaning and sentiment, such as the clover petals for good luck and fortune and the ammi majus for safety and refuge. The delicate scene is then enrobed in a sumptuous gold Looking Glass frame to complete the look. The result is a stunning eternal garden to glance into whenever one needs to view and feel part of a little piece of home.
Anne’s signature wildflower crown perfectly captures her free spirit and love of nature. The Looking Glass necklace is a permanent reminder of a place one longs to spend time within; where conversations with flowers are as normal as those with fellow friends.
“If I wasn't a human girl I think I'd like to be a bee and live among the flowers.”
