'A treat at Samhain' - New Looking Glass Collection
My latest Looking Glass collection is titled ‘The World of Octobers’ and launches on Samhain, October 31st at 6pm GMT.
This collection of treasures was inspired by the gilded landscape that Autumn brings, and its unique luminescence as it passes through fallen leaves, the curled tips of hedgerows, and the elongated shadows that stretch out over the hills. Everything seems more vibrant and beautiful, and I tried to capture that within this collection.
I also have a few special edition pieces, featuring my very own fly agaric toadstools. I dried and preserved the tiniest mushrooms I could find in our mossy lawn. I then hand painted the familiar pattern of the red and white toadstool on their caps, and just fell in love with these little chaps. There is a real sense of fairytale to these pieces, and you can almost feel like you can just wander straight into their little autumnal paradise.
There are some other brand new designs too, such the the Maiden of the Lilies, which is inspired by the hidden watery worlds that lay beneath the lily pads. I’ve always been fascinated with water and the idea of the Celtic otherworld, which is accessed through its depths. I tried to recreate that sense of enchantment and mystery with a dual layer within the piece. The result is truly stunning, especially when held to the light, and the blue swirls glow and invite you in for a cooling dip!

Finally, this will be my last collection for 2021, as I will be closing my shop in mid November for a much needed break and time to work on new ideas. My next collection will not be until mid-late January 2022, so I’d recommend purchasing for the holiday/Christmas season as early as you can when the collection launches.
