'A Sprinkle of Magic'

The process to design and make one of my Looking Glass necklaces can take up to 3 weeks. The initial stage begins in the garden. I grow or harvest all of my botanicals. The flowers are picked from my cottage garden, grown tenderly from seed, and lovingly cared for until they are picked and ready for the next stage; preservation. The botanicals are either pressed or preserved in three dimensional form using a secret method I’ve perfected over the years. This stage alone takes two weeks.

After a patient wait and twiddling of thumbs, the botanicals are carefully selected, and the designs form organically in my imagination. With my trusty tweezers I arrange each tiny petal, blade of moss, or little mushroom into one of my signature compositions. This stage usually takes 1-2 hours until I naturally feel the design is complete. It is a very similar process to painting, applying layers of watercolour or oils until form, shape and meaning emerges before your eyes on the canvas.

The final stage of the process is creating and fashioning the glass and gold locket, and a sparkling 14k gold filled chain to complete the look. However, I can also just sprinkle my studio desk with a little fairy dust and a little magic occurs, take a look below and see for yourself!
