'Flutter By, Butterfly'- Pollination Garden

The Lost Forest garden has become a haven for a wealth of fascinating pollinators. Bumbles, honey bees, hover flies and drones buzz from bloom to bloom, gathering precious nectar and pollen to energise their fluffy little bodies.

However, it is the butterflies who have been dominating the new cottage garden. Hundreds visit daily, feasting on nectar rich plants; from the statuesque verbena bonariensis to the petite pastel pink dianthus. It is an absolute joy to walk through the garden and be enveloped in fluttering butterflies, dancing on the August sunbeams. I love that my little garden is having such a beneficial effect on the local ecology, despite it being only 3 months old.

The kitty crew are also enamoured by them, although there have been some episodes of punching, but we won’t get into that today! They simply like to seek shelter amongst the tall umbellifers and sleep happily with the murmur and flutter of their flying friends. -Gillian x
