'Make Rosehip Oil with Me' - Foraging in Ireland
‘Tis the season for foraging on our farm, and lately I am on the lookout for the jewel of the hedgerows: rosehips. The wild dog rose is ideal for harvesting during October. If you would like to make this oil with me, make sure to pick hips that have not been sprayed or in close proximity to places that use pesticides. Rosehips hold a wealth of benefits for your skin and health. They can be made into a tasty sugar syrup, and taken during the winter months as they are packed with high doses of Vitamin C and A, and essential fatty acids.
They were used for centuries to help warn off colds and flu’s, as they are a convenient source of Vitamin C. They had a resurgence in popularity and basic need during WWII when orange and other fruit imports had ceased. Today I’ll be making an oil infusion using the hips. They have many benefits for the skin, such as anti aging properties, moisturising , reducing hyperpigmentation, anti inflammatory and the boosting of collagen production. You can apply a small amount to your face after washing as a beautiful and radiating hydrating boost. It can also be added to hair serums, or in body creams. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried it! Gillian x
