'Fairy of the Ferns' - Gold Fern Earrings

There’s a new treasure in the Botanical Impressions collection that I’m happy to unveil at last- ‘The Fairy of the Ferns’ 24k gold earrings.

There is a little magical woodland on our farm, and a bank within it where the most beautiful and elegant ferns grow. I have always used them previously in my Looking Glass compositions, but felt the urge to capture them in my unique botanical castings.

I firstly made a mold of two ferns, to create a more individual aesthetic and symmetry. I then made the initial ferns from 99.9% fine silver, perfectly capturing their tiny details. After this process, I began the ancient of Keum Boo using 24k gold foil. It is not a task for the faint hearted! It is labour intensive, skilled and extremely hot, but in the end the result is certainly worth it. Stunningly sparkling 24k gold ferns to adorn the ears of any woodland fairy. To add another touch of glamour, the handcrafted 14k gold filled ear wires are crowned with genuine peridot gemstones to echo the green, lush woodland that they came from.
