'Heather's Garden'- Bespoke Memorial Jewellery
A brand new year has welcomed us, and the Lost Forest studio is once again open, and I’m enjoying starting to work again on some new collections. My custom orders have also started for this year. My last custom order of 2022 was this beautiful and poignant piece in honour of a beloved daughter who left this world far too soon. It was commissioned for her mom as a way of healing and keeping her daughters memory close to her heart.
The design was imbued with symbolism: the wild mountain heather was the integral element, as her name was Heather. It formed the basis for the whole composition. I used it in an embracing border, intertwined with honeyed wild grasses, forest moss and ivory toned Queen Anne’s lace flowers. The botanicals represented nostalgia, memories, maternal love, sanctuary and protection. The central focus was a droplet of sparkling rose quartz. Its properties of unconditional love and healing were a fitting detail to the design.
The final touch was my signature sprinkling of 24k gold leaf to represent stars in the sky, and that her daughters spirit will always be around her, and remain with her through life as a guiding light.
